Samsung has launched its latest A-series Galaxy smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A8+(2018) at an event in New Delhi today. The company has priced the new handset at Rs 32,990. The phone will be available exclusively on Amazon India starting January 20.
The highlights of the Galaxy A8+(2018) are its dual front-facing camera (a first for Samsung), Super AMOLED Infinity display, IP68 rated water and dust resistance. The phone sports a 6-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display. It has 2220 x 1080 pixels stretched across the elongated 18.5:9 Infinity display. Powering the phone is Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 7880 SoC fabricated on a 14nm process and paired with Mali-G71 GPU.
The octa-core processor has two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six cores clocked at 1.6Hz. The phone packs 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The internal storage is further expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card. The Galaxy A8+(2018) runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.
Talking about the dual front camera module which is the key highlight of the new A-series Samsung smartphone, it features a 16MP primary sensor with fixed focus and an 8MP secondary sensor. Both the sensors have an aperture of f/1.9. The dual front cameras also come with Live Focus that was introduced on Samsung’s premium model, Galaxy Note 8.
The mode takes close-up shot of a subject, blurring the background and allows you to adjust the bokeh effect by swiping the slider to the left or right. On the rear side, it has a 16MP camera with f/1.7 aperture and LED flash. The phone pegs in a 3500mAh battery and supports adaptive fast charging. The fingerprint sensor is placed right below the rear camera module.
Connectivity options on the phone include- 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5, NFC and USB Type-C port. It also comes with Samsung Pay support. The Galaxy A8+(2018) will be available in two colour options- Black and Gold. Given its price, the new smartphone from Samsung will face some stiff competition from established players like Nokia 8, Mi MIX 2 and OnePlus 5T.
