Reliance Jio has crossed 130 million users mark, Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani said in a letter to his employees. Ambani also said that in the past one year Jio hit several milestones both locally and globally.
“What gives me the biggest personal satisfaction is to have broken the myth that India is not ready to adopt advanced technology. The way the country has embraced 4G technology and the way it is being used is already a case study for quantum technology leaps,” reports quote Ambani as saying to RIL employees.
To recall, Reliance Jio debuted in India’s telecom industry early September last year. Since then, the company has witnessed exponential growth with regards to the number of users all across the country. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) data revealed previously that Jio crossed 123.36 million users by the end of June this year.
Earlier this week, Reliance Jio marked its first anniversary. So let’s quickly recap everything that Jio has achieved in this past one year. Despite a relatively new name in India’s telecom circle, Jio successfully went to become a household name in a short time span, thanks to its disruptive unlimited data and free voice calling offers.
During Reliance Industries AGM that took place a couple of months ago in Mumbai, Mukesh Ambani said that Jio adds seven new users a second per day, which according to the company is a higher growth rate than Facebook, WhatsApp, and Skype. Jio also said it has managed to push monthly data consumption from 20cr Gb per month to whopping 250cr Gb per month, out of which 125cr Gb is consumed by Reliance Jio users alone.
