Reliance Jio will be launching a 4G VoLTE feature phone tomorrow on July 21. And it seems like the company has big plans for the device as per the report. The report states that Reliance Jio has aimed to sell around 20 crore units of the LYF branded feature phone within two years. PTI reported that the company has an initial target of selling 10 million units. After which the company plans to sell another 100 million units in the first year and another 100 million phones in the following year. The phone will cost a little over Rs. 1000, However, a final selling price has not been decided.
The report also mentioned that Reliance Jio has begun importing the phones to India. Jio is also in talks with Intex and Foxconn to manufacture the Jio feature phone. A new interesting feature that was in the PTI report is that the phone will come with an ability to connect to a television through a wire. This will allow users to watch content on TV like JioTV and JioCinema.
This phone will additionally provide users with free calls on the Jio network. The company is also said to be launching more affordable recharge packs during the Reliance AGM.
As for the specifications, the phone is said to feature a 2.4-inch colour display, 512MB RAM, 4GB of Internal Storage expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. It will be supporting dual SIM cards (Nano + Standard). As for the camera, the feature phone will come with a 2-megapixel primary camera and a VGA camera up front for video calls. All this will be powered by a 2,000mAh battery.
