Xiaomi’s budget smartphone Redmi Note 4 broke records and earned accolades in the Indian smartphone market due to its impressive feature set at an affordable price point. But it’s been almost a year since its launch and curious eyes are now prying on the smartphone’s successor, Redmi Note 5.
Several leaks in the recent past gave hints about a few specs of the alleged Xiaomi phone. Now a live image has appeared on the Chinese micro-blogging site, Weibo. From the live photo, one can notice that the phone features a minimal bezel display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The image further reveals the specification list of the supposed Redmi Note 5. The phone sports a 5.99-inch display with 1080×2160 pixel resolution as per the image posted on Weibo.
As for optics, the Redmi phone seems to have a 12-megapixel camera. We cannot confirm at this moment if it has dual-cameras, but we believe it will. The device can be seen running Android 7.1.2 Nougat with Xiaomi’s latest custom ROM MIUI 9 atop. Further, the image shows the supposed Redmi Note 5 to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 mobile platform and with a 4000mAh battery similar to its predecessor. A front-facing camera is visible on the top right side of the device.
While the new leaked image reveals a Snapdragon 625 chipset, earlier reports have suggested that the Redmi Note 5 may have Snapdragon 636 SoC under the hood. The phone is expected to come in two RAM/storage variants- 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage. Recently, the rumoured pricing of the phone surfaced on Chinese e-retailer site, JD.com. The listing claimed that the phone would debut at a cost of 8,888 Yuan (roughly Rs 8,700).
