Recently, some of the instant messaging services like Hike Messenger have started introducing payments features in their apps by the integration of UPI. The WSJ report also added that the company’s instant messaging platform will help businesses to be in contact with the customers.

This move from PayTM comes just after the cash crunch of India has ended, which started last year when currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 were rendered invalid. That time PayTM’s business boomed due to them being one of the largest digital wallets in the country. This move if right will make the company enter into the overcrowded market of instant messaging apps which is currently ruled by WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. We will have to see how things will fair out for the company in the coming future.
