“When nothing is sure, everything is possible!”
The year 2018 is already exciting for a lot of things. Sure, last year this excitement was at its peak. Thanks to A for Aadhaar, B for BHIM and C for Co… let’s not dig up old graves. Moving on, it’s time for something insane and desi, or something insanely desi. Yoga Guru, Baba Ramdev promoted FMCG company Patanjali Ayurveda has announced partnership with several online retailers including Flipkart and Amazon India to sell their good online.
Patanjali also formally announced its e-commerce operations under the tag line “Haridwar se har dwar tak” (From Haridwar to every door step). Baba Ramdev claimed during the event that Patanjali has hit a milestone of serving over 10 lakh customers in a day, courtesy of its own e-commerce website www.patanjaliayurveda.com.
Patanjali estimates that online sales will account for 15% of its total turnover in the future. According to Patanjali Ayurved’s CEO and MD P.P. Acharya Balkrishna, partnering with certain e-commerce companies will attract youngsters who prefer online shopping these days. But since Patanjali hasn’t revealed the exact age group that majorly contributes to its online sale, we can do nothing but keep an eye on how this strategy of aiming for the youth fares for them in the near future.
Both Flipkart and Amazon appear hopeful about this partnership and believe that it is in the best interest of their customers’ requirements. Other than the big two, Patanjali has also partnered with other e-tailers like Paytm, Big Basket, Grofers, 1mg and a few more.
A traditionalist and online shopping are not things one thinks of mentioning in the same line. But when the two come together, it speaks volumes of the rapid strides online retail has made in this country over the past few years. Time for some saatvik online shopping.
