Panasonic India has announced its new lineup- Eluga Ray at an event in New Delhi today. The Eluga Ray Max and Eluga Ray X are the company’s first smartphones to come equipped its in-house developed virtual assistance called ‘Arbo’. Panasonic has launched the Eluga Ray Max at a price of Rs. 12,499 for the 64GB model and Rs. 11,499 for the 32GB version. Meanwhile, the Eluga Ray X will retail at a cost of Rs. 8,999. Both the smartphones will be available exclusively on the e-commerce portal Flipkart.

According to the company, the AI-based assistant ‘Arbo’ has a location identification feature that recongnise the places often visited by a user and sends prompt responses asking them to make changes to their phone settings. ‘Arbo’ which means a framework that supports climbing plants, its name has been derived from Esperanto, the most widely spoken constructed language.

As for the specification, the Eluga Ray Max smartphone features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display. The device is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB onboard storage. The internal memory is further expandable up to 128GB using microSD card slot.

The Eluga Ray Max is also equipped with home button finger sensor that comes in collaboration with ‘Android for Work’ feature. In terms of imaging, the phone gets a 16-megapixel camera on the back panel, and an 8-megapixel camera on the front along with a ‘selfie’ flash. The handset has a battery backup of 3000mAh and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. connectivity options include- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, FM with RDS.

The Eluga Ray X smartphone meanwhile sports a big screen size of 5.5-inch HD (1080p) display. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad core processor(unspecified) paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory which is upgradable up to 64GB. The Eluga Ray X like the Eluga Ray Max, comes with front fingerprint sensor as well. As for the optics, the device features a 16-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel front facing camera for selfies. The handset is equipped with a 4000mAh battery. However, it doesn’t support fast charging capability.
