Orkut was one of the first and most popular social media platforms around a decade or two back. Orkut Buyukkokten, its creator is now planning to unveil a new app-centric social media platform ‘Hello’ in India within the next two months. For a few months now, a beta version of the ‘Hello’ platform has been available in the country. The current aim of the company is to create connections between people in a non-judgmental environment.
“This new venture connects people who share the same interests and passions and provides a place for authentic communication,”
said Mr. Orkut Buyukkokten.
Orkut was created by Mr. Buyukkokten back in early 2000’s as an independent project while working at Google. It was an instant success at the time of unveiling. However, a decade after functioning and garnering more than 300 million active users worldwide, Google decided to shut down the service in favour of its Google Plus social network.
The creator of the platform wasn’t hurt by the closing down of his social network and called it a start of a wonderful journey. Since then social media platforms have evolved a lot, and ‘Hello’ is a continuation of that journey.
