After a slew of leaks, renders, Oppo’s selfie-centric smartphone has finally been unveiled. The Selfie expert Oppo F5 was announced on Thursday at an event in the Philippines. The all-new Oppo handset flaunts a full view screen with minimal bezels.
The Oppo F5 features a tall 6-inch Full HD+ (1080×2160 pixel resolution)display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The highlight of the smartphone is of course (as it goes with any Oppo F series device) its imaging sensors. On the front, it has a 20-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1/2.8″ sensor. At the back, it gets a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash module. The front camera equips the all-new AI recognition technology that can scan 200 facial recognition spots to beautify a selfie. It also offers bokeh effect and face unlock feature. However, the only let on the Oppo F5 is that it doesn’t have a front-facing LED flash which means blurry images might occur in low light condition.
The Oppo F5 is fueled by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 16nm processor clocked at 2.5GHz and paired with Mali G71 MP2 GPU for graphics. It comes with 4GB of RAM/32GB internal storage and 6GB RAM/64GB native storage. Internal storage can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. The dual-SIM Oppo F5 runs Android 7.1 Nougat with ColorOS 3.2 skin layered atop.
It boasts a metal unibody design with smooth curved edges. Fine antenna lines could be seen running along the curvature. The rear camera is placed at the top left corner. The power button sits at the right while the volume keys are located at the left edge. This time around Oppo has replaced the fingerprint scanner over the back giving enough screen space to consume content.
The handset is backed 3200mAh battery and it offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, 3.5mm headphone jack under its connectivity suite. The phone is priced starting at 15990 Philippine Peso (roughly Rs. 19,985) for the 4GB RAM model. The Oppo F5 comes in Gold Black and Red colour option. It will be up for pre-order starting today and will go on sale from November 4 in the Philippines. Oppo has already promised that the device will arrive in India on November 2.
