OnePlus has a closed beta group where every software update is released first for testing. Today, the company has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update in the closed beta group as reported by Android Police. As per the report, the software update is currently extremely buggy and is not yet ready to be rolled out. As for now in the beta version, there are issues with the Wi-Fi, hotspot and Bluetooth also the NFC is not working. Interestingly, the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 3T are yet to receive the beta versions of Android 8.0 Oreo. It has been reported that the OnePlus 3, 3T and the 5 will be receiving the Android Oreo update by the end of September. However, the company hasn’t issued any statement guaranteeing this so we say that you take this with a pinch of salt.
Google had started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update in earlier September for its Pixel, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, or Pixel C devices. Android Oreo brings to the table improved battery performance, picture-in-picture mode, and improved notifications channel.
OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau had previously tweeted that the OnePlus 3 and the Oneplus 3T will be receiving the Android O update within the year. Even during the Reddit AMA OnePlus confirmed that both the devices will be receiving the update, however, just after the tweet was made OnePlus made a blog post on their official blog that this will be the last major update both the devices will be getting.
