Highlights

    • OnePlus 5T Lava Red edition may launch by January 23
    • The phone will come in 64GB and 128GB storage options
    • It is expected to carry a price similar to the standard editions

It seems OnePlus 5T Lava Red edition will make its way to India ahead of the rumoured launch date. While rumour mills have heavily speculated the phone to arrive on January 26, we have reliably learnt and believe that the new Red colour variant may come sooner than the said date.

If you give it a thought, it makes perfect sense for OnePlus to avoid the national holiday clutter and launch it earlier. Also, given that Amazon is the preferred partner for OnePlus, they rarely introduce a new device on a holiday or a weekend. So we expect the Red edition to debut by 23rd January, 2018 if not earlier.

Unlike the Star Wars edition that sells for a small premium, the OnePlus 5T Lava Red model will be available in 64GB and 128GB storage options and have a price tag similar to the standard version. The OnePlus 5T was launched for a price of Rs 32,999 (6GB RAM/64GB storage) and Rs 37,999 (8GB RAM/128GB storage). To recap, the Red Lava edition was launched in China late November for a price of 3499 Yuan for the 8GB RAM model. The phone went on sale in its home country on December 12. Besides the new red coating the handset shares similar innards as the standard edition.

Apparently, the Chinese OEM is gearing to unveil a new Sandstone version of the OnePlus 5T too. OnePlus has shared a post on Weibo for a January 5 announcement. The teaser image portrays “stone” in Chinese symbol and reads “The classic returns” after translation.

OnePlus has tabled several attractive proposals with the OnePlus 5T, for instance, the Star Wars themed model to enliven its users at least for a few weeks. The launch of this new flagship within a few months of the OnePlus 5 release did enrage the users, however, OnePlus tried to make amends by pushing Android Oreo software update for the OnePlus 5 units ahead of the 5T. Alas! A creepy bug forced the company to take away the Christmas gift from OnePlus 5 users perhaps making them more annoyed now.
