OnePlus finally launched a new flagship smartphone–OnePlus 5T–with much fanfare in New York. The successor to OnePlus 5, the company followed the similar tradition it kicked off previously with OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. In just 5 months of OnePlus 5’s existence in the market, OnePlus announced a new flagship smartphone, which may not be considered a major upgrade over its predecessor, even though there is a bezel-less display this time around.
Design-wise, OnePlus 5T is more in line with its predecessor OnePlus 5 (Review). It flaunts anodized aluminum unibody, measuring 7.3mm in thickness and weighing 162g. The display without a doubt has to be the main attraction of OnePlus 5T. It sports a 6.01-inch Full HD+ Optic-AMOLED screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio, resulting in 80.5% screen to body ratio. Now that there are thin bezels on the front, users can consume more visual content.
Similar to OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T houses a 16MP+20MP primary dual camera with dual LED flash. However, the aperture is now f/1.7 for both the cameras, unlike in its predecessor. It also supports portrait mode for bokeh effect. The main camera can record up to 4K videos at 30 frames per second (fps). Similarly, there is a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls. The secondary shooter, however, can record videos up to 1080p (full HD) resolution and 30 frames per second.
OnePlus 5T runs OxygenOS 4.7 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. Powering the dual-SIM handset is Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU for graphics. It comes in two options: 6GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. The ceramic fingerprint scanner is on the rear. There are many other supported sensors as well.
OnePlus 5T packs a 3,300mAh battery under the hood with dash charging support. As for connectivity, it supports 4G with VoLTE, USB 2.0, Type-C, USB audio, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and 3.5 mm headphone jack, which might be a huge relief for many. Last but not least the price; OnePlus 5T will cost Rs 32,999 for the 6GB/64GB variant and Rs 37,999 for the 8GB/128GB version. It goes on sale starting November 21 in North America, India and Europe.
