Highlights

    • OnePlus 5 new colour variant will be exclusive to Amazon India
    • A new gold colour version expected
    • OnePlus 5 pricing starts at Rs. 32,999

OnePlus recently took to its Facebook page to announce that “5omething new” is coming soon. Alongside the message, the company posted an image that showed two existing colour variants of OnePlus 5 and an uncoloured outline of the third OnePlus 5 unit. Apparently, OnePlus global also teased about something new that came with caption “Power in Elegance” coming on August 7. And OnePlus India has now put an official teaser (similar to the one seen earlier) stating that the new colour variant will be exclusive to the e-retail site Amazon India. The company on Thursday put a tweet on telling users to head to the e-retail site if they want to be notified about the new colour variant. Interestingly, while clicking on the link a reference to the URL mentions “OP5/gold” which indicates that a Mint Gold version might likely be announced soon.

Notably, OnePlus ‘originally’ had registered three colour variants with the Chinese telecommunication certification centre, TENNA. The Slate Gray and Midnight Black versions that are already available for purchase in certain markets don’t look much. And while a new colour option for the flagship handset is up on the list, it might likely give OnePlus an option to widen its ‘potential user base’ especially those who are looking for a different colour palette on the phone.

OnePlus 5 made its way to India on June 22 at a starting price of Rs. 32,999. The 6GB RAM/64GB storage Slate Gray variant comes for a price of Rs. 32,999 while, the 8GB RAM/128GB storage Midnight Black version tags a price of Rs. 37,999. With a new colour variant coming soon to the country, perhaps next week what remains to be seen is which RAM/storage configuration this new model shall peg in.
