OnePlus 5 global launch was held on20 June, and today OnePlus has gone ahead and launched its much-awaited flagship in India at an event held in Mumbai. The phone is the successor to the much appreciated OnePlus 3T which was launched at Rs. 29,999 for the base variant. The OnePlus 5 will be available exclusively on Amazon India starting at Rs. 32,999.

OnePlus 5 Specifications
The OnePlus 5 specifications have been rumoured for a long time, and now with the launch of the smartphone, we know all the specifications of the smartphone. The phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 Soc, will come in 6GB, 64GB and 8GB RAM, 128GB variants, it will be running Google’s latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system, and all this will be backed by a 3,300mAh battery.

It will sport a 5.5-inch 1080×1920 full-HD display at 401-pixel density. On the back, OnePlus has decided to follow the trend and added a dual camera, due to which the phone looks similar to the Apple iPhone 7. The screen also comes with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 protection.


On the connectivity side, the OnePlus 5 will include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C 2.0 along with dash charge. The phone will also come with the accelerometer, ambient light, digital compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensors.

The OnePlus 5 according to the company will weigh in at 153 grams and will measure 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25mm. Which makes the OnePlus 5 the lightest and the slimmest offering from OnePlus ever.

OnePlus 5 Design
The company is calling their new flagship the “slimmest flagship ever”. The OnePlus 5 does look like a spitting image of the iPhone 7 with the difference being in the shape of the home button, chamfered edges and the OnePlus logo on the back.



The OnePlus 5 will be made available in two colours – Midnight Black and Slate Grey. This phone also remains a sore spot for the iPhone 7 and most of the current flagship owners, the 3.5mm audio jack.

OnePlus 5 Software
OnePlus will be running their OxygenOS proprietary skin based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat on the new smartphone. Many new features have been introduced by the company in this flavour of the OxygenOS like reading mode, secure mode, expanded screenshots and translucent drawer.


The company also mentioned that they have ensured that the phone doesn’t have any lags or stutters, and provides a smooth user experience. OnePlus also has introduced various modes to better user experience, like Gaming Do Not Disturb mode which suppresses notifications while a user is busy playing games. There’s the night mode along with an ambient light sensor which will adjust the screen’s temperature according to the surrounding illumination.

OnePlus also has introduced a new software to make payments “Quick Pay” in association with PayTM.

OnePlus 5 Camera
This time OnePlus really seems to have focused on the camera’s that go into the device, this is the first ever smartphone from OnePlus to have a dual camera setup on the back. OnePlus also proudly stated that their front camera is also one amongst the best. The rear camera setup consists of a 16-megapixel wide angle lens along with a 20-megapixel image sensor in the dual camera setup, the 16-megapixel lens is a telephoto lens similar to the one found in the iPhone 7.


OnePlus also has an inbuilt depth mode which allows the users to take bokeh images which were previously only limited to DSLRs. It feels good to find such a setup in a mid-range smartphone, which most of the users will love.

OnePlus 5 Price
You can buy the OnePlus 5 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant for Rs. 32,999 and the OnePlus 5 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant for Rs. 37,999. Both these variants will be exclusively available on Amazon India as an early access sale starting today from 4:30 PM till Midnight, also OnePlus will be having 5 introductory offers for the first buyers when these units will go on sale.
