ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia has launched a new smartphone, the Nubia Z17 Lite in China. While the Chinese handset maker unveiled the premium Nubia Z17 with top-of-the-line specs in June this year, it has now brought a lighter version of the handset that carries decent specification sheet.

The new Nubia Z17 Lite features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 653 processor and dual rear camera setup. The phone flaunts metal unibody design with thin bezels on both sides. The volume keys and power button are located on the right side. The dual cameras are arranged on the top left corner at the back panel with LED flash alongside. The fingerprint sensor is embedded on the rear side at the centre.

Specifications wise, the Nubia Z17 Lite sports a 5.5-inch full HD TFT edge-to-edge display with 1080×1920 resolution. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. At the core, it has an octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. Just like OnePlus devices the phone doesn’t offer expandable storage support.

As for the optics, the rear sensors on Nubia Z17 Lite are overhauled compared to the Nubia Z17 smartphone. While the Nubia Z17 carries 12-megapixel and 23-megapixel sensors on the back, the new Nubia handset on the other hand packs two 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 sensors one for RGB and another for monochrome. The rear sensors on the Nubia Z17 Lite comes with Nubia’s proprietary NeoVision 7.0 custom edition. Further it features 5P lens with Sapphire glass protection, f/2.2 aperture and PDAF hybrid phase focus. At the front, it has a 16-megpaixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 80-degree wide-angle lens. The smartphone carries 3200mAh non-removable battery and supports QuickCharge 3.0. The Nubia Z17 Lite comes with DTS sound support for enhanced audio playback, and offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/c, Bluetooth v4.2 with BLE support, NFC, uSB OTG under its connectivity suite.

As for the pricing, the Nubia Z17 Lite is priced at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 24,700) and it will be available in the Chinese market from September 6. The phone offers three colour schemes- Gold, Blue and Black.
