    • Nokia expected to make its debut at MWC, 2017.
    • A new smartphone with the code name ‘pixel’ spotted in GeekBench.
    • The new device will feature Android 7.0.1, dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor.

Nokia is expected to make its debut at the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year. Given that the company is planning to launch new smartphones in 2017, leaks about the upcoming products have already started surfacing online.

A new smartphone with the code name ‘pixel’ has been spotted on Geekbench. The device was benchmarked two weeks ago on November 12th. As per the listing the new device will be running on Android 7.0.1 which is the upgraded version of Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone will be sporting a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.9GHz. The phone will support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. The phone will be coupled with an Adreno 302 GPU and will be coming with 1GB of RAM. In terms of its core rating, Geekbench scored Nokia ‘pixel’ 404 for the single core performance and 661 for the multi-score performance.

Geekbench also unveiled another smartphone from Nokia the Nokia Ara.  The phone which was listed last month reveal that the phone will be running on Android 5.1.1. The phone will feature the same dual-core processor like the Nokia ‘pixel’ smartphone and will house 1GB RAM. Geekbench in its listing scored Nokia Ara 400 for the single core test and 664 for the multi-core test.

According to the latest leak from a tipster on Weibo, the new smartphone will come either with a 5.2 inch or 5.5 inch screen with 2K display. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.

The leak report also says that the device will feature a metal unibody design and will be waterproof. The device will be paired with a Carl Zeiss lens just like the one it had in its premium Lumia smartphone. Although the Lumia smartphone camera dominated the smartphone camera market back in the day, Google’s Pixel smartphone and Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge have taken over in this area.

HMD Global, a Finnish private company which now owns the Nokia’s branding rights, will have to work hard in multiple the areas to bring Nokia’s brand name back in the premium market.

However, Nokia’s first handset to land in the Android market in 2017 could be the D1C. The phone which has already been benchmarked in the Geekbench and Antutu, the listing unveils the phone to be running on a Qualcomm 430 chip with an Adreno 505 GPU. It will be packed with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone will sport a 1920×1080 pixel screen resolution and will feature a 13 megapixel rear camera alongside an 8 megapixel front camera.

With leaks and rumors spreading briskly, the reports still remain skeptical. We will have to wait until February 2017 to see what Nokia will reveal officially.
