The last few months have been rife with news of Nokia’s comeback. With the latest Nokia 6 Android smartphone selling out in china in under a minute, up until now we have only heard of low to mid-end devices. However, a new report has come out claiming that Nokia is working on a flagship with the Qualcomm’s latest high-end Snapdragon 835 SoC, but given how recent the chip is, the development and release of the phone will take time.
According to NokiaPowerUser blog report, the HMD-owned Nokia on its Nokia China Weibo account has confirmed that the company is working on Snapdragon 835 powered Android smartphone, but it will need some time to prepare.
While the report has also shared an image screenshot of Nokia’s reply on Weibo, which translated from Chinese mentions about a under development smartphone with latest “high-end Snapdragon SoC”. However, we couldn’t find any such communication on Nokia’s Weibo page, so it’s hard to confirm the authenticity of the report. So we’d suggest you to take this with grain of salt.
Meanwhile, Nokia has a slot booked at MWC 2017, where it is expected to launch the rumoured high-end Nokia P1 smartphone. This alleged smartphone has been up in rumour chain from quite some time. It was earlier suggested as the Nokia Supreme or Nokia 8. The purported specification of the smartphone were earlier leaked on GFXBench. The listing included it to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, a 5.3-inch 2K display, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and 12-megapixel front & rear cameras. Also, the smartphone is tipped to run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
