HMD Global might soon be updating its flagship smartphone the Nokia 8 to Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo update. While the company was unveiling the smartphone in Taiwan, a company manager said that the device may receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of October stated a report on NokiaMob. However, currently, we do not have any details regarding when will the update be rolled out. This news comes as no surprise as the company has been recently focusing on providing timely updates and security patches. At the global launch event that took place in London, the company had promised that the device will soon be receiving the Android O update.
We might be getting more information regarding this news in the coming weeks. This update will introduce a slew of new features to the smartphone including the picture in picture mode, the new notification channel, Android Instant apps, and much more. The Nokia 8 was launched in India a few days back and was priced at Rs. 36,999.
It currently, runs on Google’s Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It sports a 5.3-inch QHD display with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels, it also comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and features 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
As for the camera, it comes with a dual camera setup on the back with both the sensors being of 13-megapixel. As for the front camera, it features a 13-megapixel sensor for selfies. All the three cameras come with lenses from Zeiss Optics.
