After launching a few mid-range Nokia branded smartphones, HMD Global is now preparing to bring its flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8 in India. The parent company for Nokia has already started sending press invite for a Nokia smartphone launch event that is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on September 26.

The premium Nokia 8 is the first smartphone from the company to feature dual rear camera setup accompanied by Zeiss optics. Besides the dual rear camera, the phone pegs in Qualcomm’s top of the line chip, Snapdragon 835 paired with 4GB of RAM. Internal storage is at 64GB which is further expandable up to 256GB using microSD card.

One of the key attribute of the Nokia flagship smartphone is its ‘Bothie’ feature that allows user to capture from both front and rear camera simultaneously. The Nokia 8 comes equipped with two 13MP sensor at the back one for RGB and the other for monochrome. The front camera supports same resolution as the primary camera and comes with autofocus. Both front and rear cameras are capable of recording 4K videos.

Design-wise, the handset is built out of a single block of series 6000 aluminium and comes in four colour schemes with two matte and two glossy finish. The volume keys and power button are placed on the right edge. The USB Type-C port and speaker grills are pitched at the base of the device.

On the software front, the Nokia 8 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. HMD Global has promised that the device will receive Google latest Android Oreo update. The smartphone was introduced in two variants- single SIM and dual SIM (hybrid slot). It features a 5.3-inch display with a 2560×1440 resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The phone packs 3090mAh battery and support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

The Nokia 8 offers Wi-Fi ac MIMO, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack and NFC under its connectivity suite. As for pricing, the phone retails at €599 in Europe which translates at around Rs. 45,900 in India after conversion. The Nokia 8 is expected to carry a similar price tag in India but we will know more about pricing and availability details next week at the Nokia smartphone launch event.
