HMD Global the licensee partner for Nokia has been quite consistent in pushing updates for its new Nokia range Android smartphones. The company last month confirmed that the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 will receive Android 8.0 Oreo update by end of 2017.
Apparently a report last week indicated that the Nokia smartphones will get Android 7.1.2 Nougat update before Android Oreo update. Now Nokia Power User (NPU) claims that it has spotted a Nokia 6 unit with Android 7.1.2 getting tested on GFXBench.
The report further cited that Nokia 6 with model number TA-1021 has already started receiving the update in select markets. The Android 7.1.2 update for Nokia 6 carries a file size of 664.5MB. The update also includes October Android Security update. The update is said to be available via OTA (over-the-air) and it brings improved system stability and user-interface enhancements.
In addition, the Android 7.1.2 update also provides enhanced notification stability, battery usage alerts, fingerprint swipe performance improvements. It includes a number of bug fixes, added features, and general performance/stability improvements as per the NPU report.
To recall, the Android-powered Nokia 6 (Review) arrived in India in June for a price of Rs. 14,999. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920) display with Corning Glass protection. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. The phone comes with 32GB inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. In terms of imaging, it sports a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front facing the camera for selfies. The device packs a 3000mAh battery. The Nokia 6 was launched with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. The phone features an aluminium design, fingerprint sensor, Dolby Atmos audio dual speakers.
