It’s raining Oreo today! We already covered HTC U11 getting the latest Android update from today. If that wasn’t enough, following a near two months of testing, Nokia’s affiliate HMD Global has started rolling out Android Oreo update for its mid-range smartphone, Nokia 6 (2017).
The latest update carries a file size of 1659MB as per the screenshot shared by GSM Arena. The publication noted that the company is pushing the update for both Chinese and Global Nokia 6 variants. The update includes a bunch of improvements including a revamped Settings UI, enhanced power saving and background activity manager. HMD has supposedly improved on the low light image quality of the device’s camera as well.
With the latest update, the first-gen Nokia 6 is said to deliver ‘faster booting’, consume less power and provide a smoother Android experience. Besides these additional features, the Nokia 6 users will also have the chance to relish other Oreo features- notification dots, gestures, PiP mode etc. You can check for the update by selecting Settings> System> Check for Update.
In a related news, the Taiwanese tech company Asus has also started rolling out Android Oreo update for the Asus Zenfone 3. The update brings a slew of features to the Zen UI including the standard Oreo features. The latest update under the version number 15.0410.1712.31 clocks a file size of 1.5GB. The new update has removed some of the pre-installed bloatware including MiniMovie, Photo Collage and Do It Later.
The update brings an intuitive Settings UI design, adaptive icons for consistent icons beside notification dots, Smart text selection, Android Instant apps etc. Asus in its official blog cited that the update might take about a week for their system to complete the auto-push. If you haven’t received the update yet, you can check for it manually in the Settings menu.
