Nokia 5, HMD Global’s mid-range Android smartphone is all set to arrive in India later next month. The Finnish company has told Indian Express that it will be shipping the smartphone to India starting August 15. HMD Global had opened pre-booking of the smartphone July 7, but had not confirmed when the phone would go on sale. Nokia 5 will be an offline exclusive and is available to pre-order via Nokia dealers across India.
If you recall, Nokia 5 was announced in India last month with a price tag of Rs 12,899. Nokia 3 and Nokia 6, on the other hand, are priced at Rs 9,499 and Rs 14,999 respectively. Nokia 3 went on sale last month while Nokia 6 will be up for pre-booking by July 14. Given that Nokia 3 has received a pretty impressive response from all markets, HMD will now get Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 ready for sales start by mid-August.
Nokia 5 is made up of a glossy aluminium unibody, flaunting gentle curves across the edges. The phone is available in various colour options like Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black and Copper. Its slimness measures 8.5mm (including camera bump). It features a front-mounted fingerprint scanner. It supports NFC for online payments alongside other standard sensors like accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, sensor, hall sensor, gyroscope, and proximity.
Nokia 5 has a 5.2-inch 720p HD IPS screen with the Corning Gorilla Glass protection layered on top of it. Inside are a Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and Adreno 505 GPU for graphics. The dual-SIM phone offers 16GB of expandable storage and runs latest Android Nougat. It houses a 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel selfie camera.
