HMD Global, the Finnish company responsible for bringing Nokia brand back to life, announced three Android-powered handsets in India. The Nokia 5 is an offline exclusive smartphone. Meaning, it will not go on sale via any of the e-commerce websites in India like Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal. Although pre-booking starts today, HMD Global has not specified when the actual phone will go on sale, but it is expected that you should be able to reserve a unit for yourself via Nokia dealers across India. However, the availability is expected to take place sometime next week. The Nokia 5 is priced at Rs 12,899.
Design-wise, the Nokia 5 shows off a glossy metal unibody that comes in multiple colour variants: Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black and Copper. The device boasts of gentle curves across the edges, which could result in a firmer grip. Extending more onto the design elements, the Nokia 5 measures 8.55mm in thickness, thanks to its protruding rear camera module, which adds a bit of an extra mass to phone’s overall design. The fingerprint sensor sits on top of the home button at the front.
The Nokia 5 sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen featuring 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, along with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection layered on top of it. The device offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage (up to 128GB). Powering internally is a Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor featuring 8 Cortex A53 cores, in addition to Adreno 505 GPU for graphics. The dual-SIM phone comes running Android 7.1.1 Nougat in addition to Google’s latest security patch dated June 2017.
