Before you uncork the champagne, hear me out. Or rather read on…
HMD Global on Tuesday launched a 4G version of the classic Nokia feature phone, the Nokia 3310. Perhaps the 3G model that was introduced couldn’t grab enough attention that caused a 4G VoLTE support feature to pop up in its latest iteration. That makes it eligible for the Jio network if it lands in India.
The Nokia 3310 4G variant has been officially announced in China. The new model follows design language similar to the standard version. The noticeable upgrade is its processor, more RAM and storage. The Nokia 3310 4G version loads 256MB RAM, 512MB internal memory along with an expandable storage support of 64GB with a microSD card. The phone runs YunOS, an Android-based operating system designed by China’s Alibaba. It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
The Nokia 3310 4G variant bundles a 1200mAh battery that is claimed to deliver up to 5 hours of talk time on 4G VoLTE network. It features a 2.4-inch (320×240 pixel resolution) QVGA curved colour display. The single-SIM Nokia 3310 (4G) has a 2MP camera on the rear side and supports LED flash. It comes with a pre-loaded MP3 player promising 16 hours of music playback on a single charge. Connectivity options on the phone include- 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, 3.5mm headphone jack and Micro-USB port for charging. It comes in two colour coating- Fresh Blue and Deep Black.
There’s no official word yet on the pricing and availability of the phone in China and other global markets including India. But in case the phone makes its way to India, it will be able to draw benefit from Jio’s lucrative 4G plans thanks to its VoLTE capabilities. What more, it can be a viable alternative to the popular JioPhone too!
