HMD Global the parent company of Nokia has recently confirmed that their smartphone line-up including the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will be receiving the update for the latest version of Android as soon as it is made available by Google. Nokia had previously said that all their Android smartphones will be guaranteed to get all the software updates for two years.
The parent company for Nokia has confirmed the news to TechRadar and a HMD Global spokesperson told,” The smartphones will get the Android O update once the new release is available from Google for their OEM partners, the same way HMD Global is committed to the monthly Android security updates.”
Google had released the Android O first developer preview back in March. The search giant at its annual I/O conference announced the release of Android O Beta for those users who wanted to get a taste of the new Android by enrolling in the programme. Google at its annual developer conference introduced the features of Android O in two categories- Fluid Experience and Vitals. The Fluid Experience includes- Picture-in-picture, Notification Dots, Autofill with Google and Smart Text Selection. Vitals, meanwhile, will help to mark issues with apps that might have a potential impact on a device battery life. The Android O Vitals also consist of Google Play Protect, an app that will scan installed apps on a user’s device for malware.
Currently, Google isn’t expected to release the final build of Android O for a few more months. Thus, indicating that Nokia users will be getting the update by later this year.
Nokia’s classic revamp feature phone Nokia 3310 has already made its way in India a few days ago. The company has confirmed its plan to release the Nokia Android-powered smartphones by the end of June this year. Given the “worldwide release”, the new Nokia smartphones are expected to launch in India besides other global markets.
