A new Sapphire Blue edition of HTC U11 is now available to pre-order in India, Taiwanese smartphone maker announced via the company’s social media channels. If you recall, HTC U11 first unveiled in its home country a couple of months ago. A month later, the device landed successfully on Indian soil and went on sale in two colour options: Brilliant Black and Amazing Silver. HTC U11 comes at the price of Rs 51,990 and available to purchase via Amazon and the company’s e-commerce portal. The Sapphire Blue model of HTC U11, meanwhile, is available to pre-order via HTC eStore.
One of the biggest highlights of HTC U11 has to be its squeezability thanks to the company’s Edge Sense technology, which lets users squeeze metal frames on the sides so that they can perform some additional actions, i.e., taking a screenshot, waking up Google Assistant, and more. Although the feature has been receiving praise by a vast majority of consumers and experts, it appears to be somewhat gimmicky somewhere down the line. We would like to reserve our opinion with regards to Edge Sense until we have thoroughly reviewed it. Interestingly, the feature can work even if the gloves on or the device is in water.
Design-wise, HTC U11 flaunts a glossy liquid surface design much like U Ultra (Review), which arrived in India at the end of Q1 2017. Specs-wise, the U11 sports a 5.5-inch QHD screen featuring 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Powering this HTC flagship is Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and Adreno 835 GPU for graphics. It offers 128GB of expandable storage and front-mounted fingerprint scanner underneath the home button.
HTC U11 houses a 12-megapixel rear shooter, optical image stabilization (OIS), dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording. Up front is a 16-megapixel secondary shooter for selfies and video calling. It runs the company’s HTC Sense UI on top of Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM HTC U11 offers dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and USB Type-C port. The phone misses onto a 3.5mm headphone jack, though.
