The long wait is about to end for fans of the God of War franchise as their favorite action demi-god (or should I say God) is about to grace the PS4 in less than 3 months. Yes, the official release date of the newest installment of the super-hit gaming franchise has been announced on the PlayStation blog.
Nearly five years in the making, God of War will finally hit the PlayStation 4 on 20th April 2018. The game is up for pre-order in US and Canada and comes in multiple editions including a Collector’s Edition with a bunch of souvenirs. There is a Digital Deluxe edition too for USD 70 (Rs 4,500 approximately) but one would need a US or Canada PSN account to officially own and download it.
There is no mention of its release date in India yet but given the massive following that the franchise has in this part of the world, we wouldn’t be surprised if it hits our shore shortly after its international release. It is one title that may also help Sony boost the sales of PlayStation 4 in India.
The first God of War game was released for the PlayStation 2 way back in 2005. The visuals and gameplay brought forth a new dimension of the console and capabilities that were unseen before on the PS2. Needless to say, the game was a smash hit and was termed as a ‘console seller’ as gamers would buy the console just to play that game.
The God of War franchise never looked back from that point with equally popular sequels and side quests that appealed to the fans, critics and business heads in equal measure. The newest iteration of the game is one of the most anticipated games of this year and is touted to break a lot of records. Going by the official trailer that was released last night, the gamers seem to be in for a treat come April.
