Apple iPhone users will soon get another reason to rejoice using a plethora of new emoji. Emojipedia, the ‘emoji reference’ site on Thursday updated its page for Emoji 5.0. The new batch of emoji characters for the iOS devices contain a few tiny surprises such as a pretzel, mermaid or the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The new 5.0 emoji list gets 69 emoji and packs almost everything from a fortune cookie to wontons, freshly baked pie, fairies, wizards, a vampire, a breaded man, a soda/milkshake, a pie, a starry-eyed face, a woman in a hijab, and a zebra and many more. Some familiar emoji for instance, the gorilla or the avocado have been revamped. The LGBTQ rainbow flag has also been updated. The new update includes mythical creatures, and representational images such as a breast-feeding woman, a person with a headscarf etc., as well.
These previews designed by Emojipedia are still in ‘draft mode’, however Unicode is slated to release the final version of the Emoji 5.0 by June this year.
Evidently, Unicode 9.0 was officially released last year with 72 new emoji including a clown face, bacon, facepalm, shrug and many more. The ‘majority’ of the Unicode 9.0 emoji marked its way to iOS with the iOS 10.2 and in Android 7.1 Nougat as well. Separately, the Unicode 10.0 is also expected to see the light in the mid of 2017. The new emoji although looks refined, it is suggested for the iPhone users to hold the excited and wait until the final version of Unicode 10.0 is released.
