Motorola is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in Canada on Thursday, June 1. The company took to its official Motorola Canada twitter account to confirm the launch date.

Guess what?! We’re announcing the next bold phone from Motorola on June 1st,” the tweet reads.

While the “next bold phone” remains a mystery, based on previous leaks it could either be the new Moto G5S series or the Moto Z2 Play. According to rumours, the new Moto G5S Plus is tipped to be first handset from Motorola’s smartphone inventory to feature a dual-rear camera setup. The phone will reportedly feature 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) display and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out=of-the-box. Previous leaked renders reveal the phone will feature an all metal design with antenna lines running on top and bottom of the back panel. The device will have a similar circular camera module as seen on the Moto G5 and G5 Plus. Under the hood, the Moto G5S Plus is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

The Moto Z2 Play meanwhile is expected to run a Snapdragon 626 processor, 5.5-inch AMOLED full HD (1080×1920 resolution) display. The device is said to pack 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage along with expandable memory support. In terms of imaging, the phone is tipped to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-auto focus and 4K video recording support. At front, the phone will have a 5-megapixel sensor with a front facing flash. While the Moto Z Play is known for packing a big 3510mAh battery, the sequel to the phone will instead carry a 3000mAh battery. The phone will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat and come with 16 pins for attaching Moto Mods.

With the intent to expand its portfolio, Motorola will launch a slew of smartphones this year targeted to specific consumers, as per reports.
