Motorola’s last year’s Moto G4 Plus will get Android 8.0 Oreo update, the company confirmed without revealing more details with regards to actual timeline of the rollout. Last week, Motorola released the list of smartphones that will receive Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade. Surprisingly enough, the list had no mention of Moto G4 Plus. Motorola later updated its blog post confirming Moto G4 Plus is also upgradable to Android Oreo.
Motorola also admitted rolling out Android Oreo wasn’t a part of its original strategy for Moto G4 Plus since all G-series phones are promised one major OS upgrade per device. In spite of that, Motorola has promised Android Oreo in addition to Android Nougat it has received already. However, since this is an upgrade that wasn’t planned, it is expected to take some time.
Specs-wise, Moto G4 Plus offers a 5.5-inch 1080p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Powering the device is a Snapdragon 617 octa-core SoC and Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. It comes in multiple RAM and storage options and packs a 3,000mAh battery under the hood. It houses a 16MP main shooter and a 5MP secondary shooter for selfies and video calls.
Moto G4 Plus aside, here is the list of other Moto phones that will receive Android 8.0 Oreo:
