Lenovo-owned Motorola has recently announced that the Moto Z2 Play along with the new Moto Mods will be up for pre-order in India from Thursday, June 8. The smartphone and the new mods will be available for pre-booking through various offline stores across the country. Consumers can check all the details regarding the pre-order on the Moto Z Play dedicated site

The company has also bundled a few offers with the new Moto Z smartphone. Customers can pre-book the new Moto Z2 Play by paying an advance pre-order amount of Rs. 2000. After this, they can the balance amount at 0% interest in 10 months. Lenovo is also offering a ‘Moto Armor pack’ whereby the purchasers will get protective accessories pack. The website also has an option to locate the nearby retail stores. As mentioned above, the new Moto Mods will also be up for pre-order through retail stores. The company, however, has not mentioned any offers on these new Mods nor it has shared any information on which mods they are bringing to India as yet.

Moto Z2 Play

To refresh, the second-generation Moto Z Play smartphone was officially introduced in the US, June 1. Lenovo-owned Motorola also unveiled three new Moto Mods- Turbo Power, Moto Gamepad, and the second-generation JBL Sound Boost alongside the new Moto Z2 Play.

The all-new Moto Z2 Play sports a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) Super AMOLED display. A sleek phone compared to the original model, the new Moto Z2 Play boasts an all-metal unibody design and accommodates 16 pins on the rear back panel for the Moto Mods. The phone has a circular rear camera module. The fingerprint sensor embedded underneath the ‘redesigned’ home button. It is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 processor paired with two RAM/storage options- 3GB RAM/32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage. The storage can be further expanded up to 2T using microSD card. The phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and comes with 4G LTE support.


The Moto Z2 Play packs a 3000mAh battery and comes with water-repellent nano-coating. In terms of imaging, the Moto Z2 Play sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with a 1.4-micron pixel sensor, with f/1.7 aperture, dual-LED flash, and laser dual autofocus lens. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture, wide-angle lens and a dual-LED flash. Connectivity options on the phone include- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, GPS/A-GS. Sensors on board include- accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer and proximity sensor. The Moto Z2 Play smartphone is priced at $499 (around Rs. 32,200) in the US and comes two colour options- Lunar Grey and Fine Gold.
