Motorola has launched the new Moto Z2 Force in India. The USP of the device is that it sports a shatterproof display which Motorola calls ShatterShield tech. The company has launched the device as a limited edition smartphone in India.
It will come bundled with the TurboPower Pack Moto Mod which usually costs Rs 5,999 when bought separately. The device has been priced at Rs 34,999 and will be available for purchase on Flipkart and Moto Hub Stores starting today.
As for the specifications, the Moto Z2 Force sports a 5.5-inch QHD POLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The company guarantees that if the display were to break within the first four years from the date of purchase, they would replace it – no questions asked.
The Moto Z2 Force is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor paired with the Adreno 540 GPU. It features 6GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. The device also features a water-resistant nano-coating which would save it from accidental spills and splashes. The fingerprint sensor similar to the Moto G5S Plus has been placed at the front just below the display.
All of this is backed by a 2730mAh non-removable battery. Additionally, the company is also bundling the TurboPower Pack Moto Mod along with it. This would end up providing the smartphone with 3,500mAh worth of extra juice to run on. The device runs on Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
As for the camera, the Moto Z2 Force sports a dual camera setup on the back. Both the sensors are 12-megapixels and are meant to provide a depth of field effect to the images. On the front, it features a 5-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 along with a front flash for selfies.
The device seems to have decent specifications for the price. But you have to keep in mind that in the same price bracket brands like OnePlus, Honor, Nokia and others provide smartphones with similar or better specifications.
The devices that immediately cross our minds hearing this price point are the OnePlus 5T, Honor View 10 and Nokia 8 which cost Rs 32,999, Rs 29,999 and Rs 28,999 respectively. All of these devices are priced under what Motorola is asking for the Moto Z2 Force, and they have similar specifications to the device.
However, when you keep in mind that the TurboPower Pack Moto Mod has an MRP of 5,999, that brings the effective cost of the phone down to Rs 29,000. Additionally, some of these devices don’t have splash resistance which the moto does. And none of the above-mentioned devices have a display replacement guarantee for four years when broken. Keeping all of this in mind, we do feel that Motorola with the Moto Z2 Force has something special with them.
