Xiaomi has unveiled the ninth iteration of its MIUI ROM, the MIUI 9 at an event in Beijing today. The new MIUI skin based on Android 7.0 Nougat brings a refined user interface and adds some smart features like Image search, Smart assistant, and smart app launcher.
MIUI, the popular custom Android ROM known for its heavily modified user interface and customization, Xiaomi claims that currently, 2.8 billion users from 142 countries are using MIUI in general.
Talking about the new MIUI version, it carries a bunch of improvements and new features, including shortcuts on lockscreen, split screen feature, new dynamic icons for apps, home screen editor and more.
The launch time of apps in this new iteration will be increasingly faster with optimised haptic feedback, intelligent CPU acceleration and optimised thread scheduling. It has a dynamic resource allocation which will utilise its own critical thinking and allocate priority to in-use app for a fluid experience. The Smart Assistant will enable users to search almost everything from apps, notes, to images and much more. It also includes a new universal image search that can search for images of a particular person or images taken at a specific location. The Smart app launcher meanwhile will suggest apps to launch based on screen contents.
