Microsoft has been a bit on the slower side bringing the Surface lineup of devices to India. After quite a long wait, we are going to get the Surface Book 2 in our country soon. Alongside India, Microsoft will be launching the Surface Book 2 in 16 more countries this year. Even before India gets the device, Microsoft has refreshed the Surface Book 2 lineup with a new storage variant for its United States market – 128GB version for $1,199 (Approximately Rs 77,000).
Microsoft hasn’t been able to recreate the magic of the Surface Book in India, as compared to its home country. Part of this might be due to the company delaying the launch of the products here and the other part might be due to the high pricing strategy that they are following in India. It remains to be seen what strategy the company will follow this time with the Surface Book 2.
Microsoft launched the Surface Book 2 back in October along with the Windows 10 Fall Creators update. Microsoft during the launch claimed that the Surface Book 2 is five times more powerful than its predecessor, and twice as powerful as the current gen Apple MacBook Pro. All of this was made possible due to the 8th generation Intel Core processors and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 and 1060 graphics chipset.
The Surface Book 2 comes in two size variants – one with 13.5-inch display with a resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels and the second one comes with a 15-inch display with a resolution of 3,240 x 2,160. The company claims that both the variants can provide video playback of up to 17 hours. If the user decides to utilise the device in its tablet mode, the company says that it will have a power backup of up to 5 hours.
Alongside the new Surface Book 2 refresh, the company also refreshed its Surface laptop which was launched last May in the United States. As of now it isn’t clear if the company will be bringing this device to India. It starts at $799 (Approximately Rs 51,000). It is powered by the Intel Core M3 processor paired with the Intel HD Graphics 615.
