Micromax has announced the Canvas 2 (2017) smartphone, on Thursday in India. Re-introducing its Canvas series to the Indian smartphone market, the company has partnered with Airtel to launch the new smartphone. The Canvas 2 (2017) is priced at Rs. 11,999 and will be made available across offline stores from May 17. Micromax is offering a one-year screen replacement and free 1GB of 4G data per day, unlimited calling to any network for one year for Airtel users.
Talking about the specifications, the new Micromax Canvas 2 (2017) feature a 5-inch HD (720×1280 resolution) display. The USP of the device is its 2.5D cover Glass with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection which Micromax claims to give the Canvas 2 up to ‘4 times better performance in drop failure height’. In this price range, the phone appears to be the first to come with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek 6737 processor paired with Mali T720 MP1 GPU.
The dual-SIM Canvas 2 runs Android 7.0 Nougat and offers 3GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD slot. As for the camera, the smartphone gets a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. At front, it has a 5-megapixel selfie camera with a 4P lens.
The Canvas 2 supports 4G VoLTE and includes Wi-FI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack in its connectivity option. The phone carries a 3050mAh battery and comes with a fingerprint sensor on the front. The phone has a polycarbonate removal back cover. The new Canvas 2 smartphone will be available in two colours- Chrome and Champagne.
