BSNL, in partnership with Micromax, today launched a 4G voLTE-enabled feature phone at Rs 2,200. Both the companies it will contribute to the government’s vision of Digital India initiative. The device will come with a plan from BSNL which will include unlimited calling and data at just Rs. 97 per month.
“BSNL is one of the major service providers in the country and has a vast reach and network that spreads across every nook & corner of the country. Both Micromax and BSNL have been working with an aim to bring the next wave of unconnected users on the Internet. We will now take this vision forward with Bharat-1 and create a compelling proposition for the users that is a first in the category,” Rahul Sharma, Co-founder Micromax.
As for the specifications, the Micromax Bharat 1 features a 2.4-inch QVGA display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 processor. It comes with 512GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It features a dual SIM card slot and is 4G VoLTE enabled. As for the camera, it features a 2-megapixel camera on the rear with an LED flash and a VGA camera on the front for selfies. It comes with support for 22 languages and is backed by a 2,000mAh battery.

We are confident that Bharat-1 will help millions of users experience the data and calling experience like never before.”
The device will be available across India at retail outlets from October 20. The customers who purchase the device will also be able to avail the Rs. 97 plan from BSNL which will provide them with unlimited calling and unlimited data. However, we currently don’t know the details of the plan as to will it be a 3G plan or will there be a FUP on the data.
