LG is gearing up for the next big release of its flagship smartphone LG G6 at Mobile World Congress 2017. But the company seem to set a platform in India as well with a new series of smartphones. The South Korean tech company has sent invites for a press event that is scheduled on Wednesday, February 22 in New Delhi. The launch invite features ‘K’ suggesting the company could likely reveal a new K-series.
The Union IT Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad will be the chief guest for the press event. Mr. Prasad previously attended the launch of LG’s two ‘Made in India’ smartphones LG K7 LTE and LG K10 LTE in April last year and we can expect the new K-series smartphone to be ‘Made in India’ too.
The South-Korean tech company refreshed its K-series smartphones-the K3 (2017), K4 (2017), K8 (2017) and K10 (2017) at CES in January this year. LG claimed that the K-series is significantly designed with the “diverse needs of consumers in mind”. The company also said that the K-series mid-range smartphones feature a 120-degree wide-angle front camera lens and rear fingerprint sensor.
Specifications wise, the top-tier smartphone the LG K10 (2017) sports a 5.3-inch HD (1280×720) display. The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor. It comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB internal storage, 4G LTE, and microSD support (up to 2TB). In terms of optics, the LG K10 (2017) sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat and is backed by a 2800mAh battery.
The LG K8 (2017) comes with a 5-inch HD (1280×720) display. It is powered by a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). It supports 4G LTE. The phone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It has a battery back-up of 2500mAh (removable) and runs Android 7.0 Nougat.
The LG K4 (2017) meanwhile features a 5-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) display with a pixel density of 196ppi. It sports a 1.1GHz quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor paired with 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory. The phone comes with 4G LTE and microSD card support (up to 32GB). The LG K4 (2017) has a 5-megapixel rear. It packs a 2500mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The LG K3 (2017) is the entry-level smartphone in the K-series that features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 MSM8909 SoC coupled with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card). In terms of imaging, the phone house a 5-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. It comes with a 2100mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
