On the occasion of India’s Republic Day, Jio will provide a new entry-level data and calling combo plan starting at Rs 98. Starting 26th January, Jio Rs 98 plan will benefit prepaid users with unlimited local, STD and roaming calls and up to 100 SMS per day for 28 days. On top of that users also get a cumulative 2GB high-speed data for the same time period.
The current Jio Rs 98 plan offers 2.1GB high-speed data with a cap of 0.15GB per day along with unlimited calling and 140 SMS total, but it has a validity of 14 days. So in short, Jio will provide double the validity and more SMS while 4G data is limited to 2GB. Upon exceeding the FUP, speed will come down to 128 kbps.
In what could be a good news for Jio customers, the company has decided to enhance the daily data limit of all 1GB per day plans by 50%. As a result, existing 1GB daily data plans will end up providing 1.5GB daily data. Similarly, 1.5GB daily data plans will offer 2GB high-speed data in a day, resulting in 33% data jump starting tomorrow.
For example, the current Jio Rs 149 plan provides 1GB data per day for 28 days which results in total 28GB data within the said period. New Jio Rs 149 plan will soon provide 42GB data at 1.5GB per day. This applies to every Jio prepaid plan seen in the image above.
These revisions come into effect by 26th January 2018, as we mentioned previously. So if you are planning to purchase a new Jio plan at this moment or even renew or change your existing one, we’d recommend you to hold your purchase for one more day to get these extra benefits.
In other news, certain Airtel prepaid plans now offer up to 40% extra data to take on Jio’s. But here in lies the question, are they good enough to beat what Jio has to offer from tomorrow?
