BlackBerry could be jumping right onto minimum bezels bandwagon starting in India, according to a well-known tipster Evan Blass aka @evleaks. In his recent tweet, Blass revealed a picture that he claims to belong to an upcoming BlackBerry handset called ‘Ghost,’ which is reportedly launching in India soon. From the limited information available at our disposal, it isn’t clear for now if or when ‘Ghost’ will launch in India.
We’ve scanned through BlackBerry India’s Twitter profile, hoping to find some evidence in the form of teasers, promos or anything credible for that matter. We couldn’t find any such thing.
Blass has been specific about BlackBerry Ghost launching soon in India. Thanks to Optiemus, which handles manufacturing and distribution of all BlackBerry devices in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. For all other global markets, TCL looks after the same under BlackBerry Mobile branding. Optiemus Infracom also told Techook that the company is not in a position to comment on this.
So right now, it seems to be early to speculate about the brand’s intention to launch ‘Ghost’ outside of India (We can’t be so sure about its imminent arrival in India either).
BlackBerry has so far been sluggish in the Indian market, and for a reason. Last year, Optimeus managed to launch only BlackBerry KEYone, which catered to India’s premium smartphone segment. And the curious case of BlackBerry ‘Ghost’ appears to be no different this time around.
