Highlights

    • Along with the new Type mode Instagram has also introduced a few new fonts
    • These new fonts can be used with normal image and video stories too

Do you use Instagram often? If yes, then this new update might just be worth downloading right now. Instagram will now allow users to post stories with just text in them. The company is calling this new feature the ‘Type’ mode. I know some of you Snapchat users are going to say that this is old. However, for Instagram, this is a big thing as earlier one had to take an image for a background and then type on it. So basically now it removes one step from the process.

Currently, this feature may not show up on your smartphone, as Instagram is rolling it out in phases globally over the coming weeks. Here’s the changelog about the new update and the ‘Type’ mode in stories:

Instagram Text Mode

To use this new feature, you first need to start a new story, there you will find a new ‘Type’ option next to the Normal option under the record button. After pressing that button, go ahead choose a colourful background and a font type that you like and start typing. You will also be able to highlight specific words and phrases in the story post. Additionally, the app also allows users to add an image to the Type mode’s background.

These new fonts introduced in the app with the new Type mode can also be used when you want to add text to images or videos in other modes. Similar to the normal stories, the Type mode stories will also disappear after 24 hours.
