Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched its latest flagship Honor View 10 (a.k.a. Honor V10) in India. The company has tagged a price of Rs 29,999 for the new handset and it will release it exclusively on e-commerce portal Amazon starting January 8.
The V-series Honor smartphone made its debut in China last November. The Honor V10 packs some incredible aspects and given its price it could ruffle a few feathers in the affordable flagship segment. The phone runs EMUI 8.0 based Android Oreo right out-of-the-box. It features a full view 5.99-inch 18:9 display with 2160 x 1080 pixels stretched across the narrow bezel screen. The Honor V10 also incorporate Huawei’s flagship processor, HiSilicon Kirin 970. The chipset is fabricated on 10nm architecture and it features a neural-network processor unit (NPU). The NPU is designed for AI-based tasks including facial recognition.
In terms of imaging, the Honor View 10 offers dual camera setup at the rear, featuring a 16MP RGB sensor and a 20MP monochrome sensor with PDAF and dual LED flash. The AI engine on the cameras has Real-Time Scene object recognition functionality and automatically selects the focal point. Up front, it has a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and selfie unlock feature.
The phone comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 256GB using microSD card. The Honor V10 is equipped with a 3750mAh battery and supports Super Charge fast charging technology. Connectivity options on the V10 include – hybrid dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and USB-Type C port. The fingerprint sensor is located at the front below the display rather than at the back as commonly seen in minimal bezel display phones. The Honor View 10 will be available in two colour schemes- Midnight Black and Navy Blue.
Given its aggressive pricing, the all-new minimal bezel Honor V10 will compete against OnePlus’ current flagship, OnePlus 5T. The Honor View 10 could be a worthy challenger as it packs some nifty features and ships with the latest Android version which is yet to arrive on the OnePlus premium mid-range flagship model. However, Huawei claims that the phone is a first of its kind due to its on-chip AI capabilities courtesy of it’s embedded NPU.
