Huawei today launched two new smartphones from Nova series, the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus at an event in China. The two smartphones feature almost identical specifications, except for the screen size and battery. The Huawei Nova 2 is priced at CNY 2,499 (around Rs. 23,500), the bigger variant, Huawei Nova 2 Plus meanwhile is priced at CNY 2,899 (around Rs. 27,200).
The highlight of the smartphones is its dual-camera setup, a 20-megapixel sensor in the front. In terms of specifications, the Huawei Nova 2 features a 5-inch full HD (1080×1920 resolution) IPS display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The phone is powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core Kirin 659 processor paired with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The Nova 2 carries a 2950mAh battery and supports fast charging as well. The smartphone runs EMUI 5.1 based Android 7.0 Nougat.
The Huawei Nova 2 Plus sports a 5.5-inch full HD display and a large 3340mAh battery and a bumped-up storage of up to 128GB. Other specifications on the Plus variant remains to be the same as the Nova 2 device. Both the smartphones feature a metal unibody design. The handsets carry a dual camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel sensor with 1.25-micron pixel size, f/1.8 aperture and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The primary camera also comes with OIS support (optical image stabilisation). The front camera sports a 20-megapixel sensor with intelligent fill light to capture better images in low light.
The hybrid dual-SIM Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus supports 4G LTE and comes with USB Type-C charging port. There’s no Home button or capacitive buttons in the front. The fingerprint sensor is embedded on the back panel. Connectivity options on the devices include- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack.
The Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus will be available in blue, green, gold, black and rose gold color options. The smartphones are already up for pre-order and will go on sale in China on June 16. The company has not shared any details regarding the availability of these handsets globally.
