Huawei, as promised unveiled its latest flagship model for the year, the Huawei Mate 10 in Germany. The smartphone pegs in a nearly bezel-less display, the popular smartphone of this year.

The new Huawei smartphone features a 5.9-inch Quad HD 2.5D curved display with 1440×2560 pixel resolution. The phone boasts 3D glass design with the fingerprint sensor embedded on the front. The new Mate 10 is powered by the in-house octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 10nm chip with 17 co-processor. Huawei claims that the Kirin 970 chipset includes a dedicated neural network processing unit (NPU) which is designed to handle to arm tasks related to AI and deep learning. Apple’s new A11 Bionic chip on the iPhone 8 series and the iPhone X also carries a “neural engine”.

The AI engine on the Mate 10 will bring Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition functionality, choose the ‘perfect camera settings’ for any environment automatically. Further, the AI processing is claimed to significantly reduce the phone’s ‘degradation performance over time’.
As we mentioned, the Huawei Mate 10 has thin bezels on both sides with a taller display offering more screen space to view content. The phone has 81.79 screen-to-body-ratio with the display offering 96 percent NTSC colour gamut.

The processor on the Mate 10 is paired with Mali-G72 GPU for graphics. The smartphone runs Google latest Android OS, Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 skin on top. In terms of imaging, it flaunts Leica dual-lens camera at the back with one having 20MP count (Monochrome) and secondary 12MP sensor (RGB). The dual rear cameras come with PDAF, CAF, BSI CMOS, laser autofocus, optical image stabilisation, depth autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. At the front, it gets an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. As for the storage, the Mate 10 offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. Internal storage can be further expanded up to 256GB using microSD card.

The phone packs a 4000mah battery and supports fast charging. It measures 150.5 x 77.8 x 8.2mm and weighs 186 gram. Connectivity options on the phone include- 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support (hybrid), WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port.

The Huawei Mate 10 comes in three colours- Champagne Gold, Classic Black, Pink Gold and Mocha Brown. The phone has been priced at €699 (around Rs. 53,412). It will be available late October in over 15 countries, including China, Egypt, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Spain.
