HTC U11 has been almost a runaway success for the company so far. One of the most impressive features of the smartphone is the Edge Sense, which allows users to squeeze the sides of the device to perform various actions. Currently, there are many third party apps available in the Play Store which allow users to add more functionality which is not available in the stock version of Edge Sense.
A few months ago HTC saw this and released a teaser video showing that new features will be coming to Edge Sense like the ability to zoom in and out in Google Photos and Google Maps, dismiss alarms, hang up phone calls and much more. The company will start rolling out the update which will let the users do the above-mentioned things today. The update will be rolling out in phases so that there is not a lot of pressure on the update servers.
Once the devices receive the update, the users will be then able to program short or long squeezes inside any app to perform a specific function like if you use the weather app on a daily basis, you can program the Edge Sense to open up the app with a long squeeze, and you can also program it to open the weather of a specific place on a short squeeze. This will provide the users will more customizability and save on the memory that the third party apps utilise.
