HTC’s Vice President for product management, Mo Versi, today on Twitter announced that their 2017 flagship smartphone, the HTC U11 will start receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update from Monday, November 27. However, this update will only be available for users who have the unlocked variant of the smartphone. Interestingly, the company just two weeks ago launched the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC U11 in Taiwan. When inquired about other devices, Versi responded, “It’s coming soon. I’ll let you know when we’re close. The 10, Ultra and U11 life will receive the update.”
With this update, the U11 users will get all the Android 8.0 Oreo features like the Smart text selection, Auto-fill, Picture-in-Picture mode, new Quick settings design and more.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. The Oreo OS update will be available for download on the HTC u11 unlocked version starting on Monday! Enjoy!

As of now, there aren’t many devices running on Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo. According to the Android version distribution numbers, Android Oreo is only installed on 0.3% of all the Android smartphones currently being used. However, we know that it is only a matter of time before this number goes up with new smartphones filling the market and manufactures updating their old phones. Several manufacturers have released the beta version of Android 8.0 Oreo for their smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG V30, Essential Phone, OnePlus 5 and more.
