HTC confirmed on Monday that some of its top of the line handsets such HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 are eligible for Android 8.0 Oreo OTA rollout. The company, while responding to a user query, said it’s excited to bring Android 8.0 Oreo to all the HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 owners worldwide. However, the company said that more details with regards to exact rollout plan in addition to more devices would be announced soon. Interestingly, HTC is also the first company to confirm the software upgrade to several of its flagship smartphones.

HTC U11 Android 8.0 Oreo software update
As mentioned before, the HTC 11 (Review) is one of the many handsets which are eligible for Android 8.0 Oreo OTA rollout. As far as software is concerned, the HTC U11 currently runs Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with HTC Sense user interface (UI) on top. As we mentioned in our HTC U11 software review, the company’s Sense UI and is designed to work in conjunction with its Sense Companion voice-controlled assistant. So, to leverage the power of its AI (artificial intelligence), it makes sense for HTC to upgrade the software experience on its latest flagship smartphone.
HTC U Ultra Android 8.0 Oreo software update
Next smartphone in HTC’s list of Android 8.0 Oreo-eligible smartphone is the HTC U Ultra (Review). Currently, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with the HTC Sense UI on top of it. In our HTC U Ultra software review, we found out that the system menu is a stock Android 7.0 lookalike, which works great as far as setting up the phone is concerned. It also runs the HTC Sense companion out-of-the-box, which according to the company learns over the period. So, it’ll be great to see the HTC U Ultra running the latest version of Google’s Android operating system with the company’s UI on top.
HTC 10 Android 8.0 Oreo software update
Although we haven’t tested the HTC 10 ourselves, it first launched running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. However, the company rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat over the period. Now that the company has confirmed its Android 8.0 Oreo rollout as far as the HTC 10 is concerned, the software update is expected to hit the device in coming weeks or perhaps months.
