Earlier last week, HTC’s Taiwan Facebook page unleashed a teaser image with the post that read, “HTC will give you an unexpected surprise”.  While the speculations swirled around for a ‘follow-up’ to its previous flagship HTC10, the Taiwanese consumer electronics company instead announced a limited edition of the HTC U Ultra that was launched back in January this year.

The limited edition variant of the U Ultra offers a sapphire glass screen and a beefed up storage of 128GB. Notably HTC has already put the limited sapphire edition of the U Ultra up for pre-order in Taiwan for TWD 28,900 (roughly Rs. 62,000). Meanwhile, the 64GB variant of the smartphone is available for purchase in India at a price of Rs. 59,990. The Limited Edition variant comes in four colour options – Blue, Black, Pink, and White. HTC is also offering a leather flip case, a key ring, and a Quick Charge 3.0 power bank for the consumers who pre-order the limited edition U Ultra handset. However, the company has not shared a word whether the limited edition of the U Ultra will be available globally.

HTC U Ultra Sapphire Taiwan

Apart from the sapphire display and the huge storage, there is nothing new on the exclusive model compared to the original variant. The HTC U Ultra smartphone features a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display, and an additional secondary 2-inch display with 1040×160 pixels resolution. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Sense UI customisation on top. The fingerprint sensor is located on the Home Button of the smartphone.

The storage in the HTC U Ultra is further expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. In terms of imaging, the smartphone has a 12-UltraPixel rear camera, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera that comes with an UltraPixel mode, and a BSI sensor. The dual-SIM HTC U Ultra supports 4G VoLTE. Connectivity options include- 4G LTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, DLNA, Miracast, HTC Connect, USB 3.1 Type-C port. The HTC U Ultra packs a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
