HTC officially unveiled two of its most premium smartphones-HTC U Ultra and U Play in its new ‘U’ line up in India last month on February 21.
As the company during the launch announced the high-end variant HTC U Ultra to be released on March 6, the smartphone is now available for purchase on HTC India e-commerce store for a price of Rs. 59,990. The HTC U Play, however, will go on sale by mid of March.
The device comes with one-year insurance as well that covers the physical damage to the smartphone. Standard Bank debit and credit card holders can avail a cashback of up to 7.5 per cent on MOP (Minimum Operating Price) of the phone.
The highlight of the new HTC U Ultra is its voice-activated virtual assistant, HTC Sense Companion that learns the user’s daily pattern of phone usage and manages the device accordingly. Notably, the smartphone features a secondary display that sits above the main screen. The additional display that comes with 160×1040 resolution, enable the user to have a quick access to the contacts, apps including upcoming events and weather forecasts.
The all metal and glass HTC U Ultra sports a 5.7-inch QUAD HD (2560 x 1440 pixel) Super LCD display along with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating (64GB storage variant). It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card slot). As for optics, it has a 12-megapixel rear camera with super-fast laser autofocus, phase detection auto focus (PDAF) and optical image stabilization (OIS). The front camera features a 16-megapixel sensor with UltraPixel mode and 1080p video.
The HTC U Ultra runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with HTC Sense skin. The phone is backed by a 3000mAh non-removable battery and comes with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options in the phone include- USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, HTC, GPS, AGPS and GLONASS. Sensor suite include- Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Motion G-sensor, Compass sensor, Gyro sensor, Magnetic sensor, Fingerprint sensor and Sensor Hub for activity tracking.
Both HTC U Ultra and U Play comes packed with USonic feature that analyses the user’s inner ear with ‘sonar-like pulses’ and optimize the audio quality in the headset that specifically suits your ear.
Although, the smartphone comes in four colour options, the Taiwanese tech-company has brought only the Blue and Black colour variant of the HTC U Ultra smartphone.
