Bezel-less display has been a smartphone design trend this year, and it seems the Taiwanese consumer electronics company, HTC might soon join the bandwagon. While Details about Google and HTC’s aquistion were tabled out yesterday, despite all, the Taiwanese handset maker as per reports is said to be working on its next flagship this year.
Reports have suggested that a Plus variant of the premium smartphone HTC U11 might mark its way in November with a near bezel-less display. A new report from Fandroid has now tipped that the company is supposedly planning to launch the HTC U11 Plus with the codename Ocean Master on November 11 in China. Apparently last year, a designer at HTC slip up the ‘hardware roadmap’ that cited the Ocean series of devices including the Ocean Note, Ocean Smart and the Ocean Master.
As per the information shared by Fandroid, the supposed U11 Plus is said to feature a 5.99-inch Quad HD+ (1440×2560 pixels) edge-to-edge display manufactured by JDI. The smartphone is tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 835 SoC. The U11 Plus variant is said to come in two RAM/storage options- 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB/128GB native storage.
The device is tipped to come with IP68 water & dust resistance and Edge Sense technology that was introduced on the flagship HTC U11. As for optics, the phone is expected to feature a 12-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel front facing shooter for selfies and video calls. The phone is also said to come with QuickCharge 3.0 support and carry U Type-USB headphones.
Fandroid further suggests that the HTC U11 Life, an Android One smartphone might also be unveiled at the smartphone event. The company has also said that they will be reviewing their pricing strategy and will be pricing their new smartphones accordingly. It might be assumed that the alleged U11 Plus will come with a competitive price tag to get more sales.
During our review of the HTC U11 we found that it was a pretty impressive smartphone with regards to its performance, sound, and display. It seems highly likely for the to launch this smartphone as the original U11 was a huge success for them. However, we recommend you take this news with a pinch of salt as there is currently no official word regarding this from the company.
