HTC has launched a new smartphone from the Desire series, the HTC Desire 555. The Taiwanese tech company has partnered with the US AT&T prepaid carrier Cricket Wireless to announce this entry-level handset.
The HTC Desire 555 is available in the prepaid carrier for a price of $119 which is around Rs. 7,700. As far as the specifications are concerned, the mid-range HTC smartphone offers a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) TFT display. The phone is powered by a 1.1GHz quad core (unspecified) processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage. The storage on the device can be further expanded up to 2TB using microSD card. On the software front, the HTC Desire 555 runs Android 7.0 Nougat layered with HTC’s Sense UI skin on top. The phone packs a battery of 2,200mAh.
In terms of imaging, the HTC Desire 555 is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear sensor with 4x digital zoom and LED flash. At the front, it has a 5-megapixel camera for selfies. The camera app on the phone also comes with Auto Selfie and Voice Commands. As for the design, the phone boasts a matte finish unibody with textured ‘groove’ on the back panel. The volume rockers, power button sit on the right edge while the microSD/SIM slot is put on the left side. The dual speaker grills are placed in the front and the 3.5mm headphone jack is located on the top of the smartphone.
Other features on the HTC Desire 555 include HTC BlinkFeed, HTC BoomSound for enhanced audio quality and HTC Themes for personalization options. The phone offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS and Micro USB 2.0 under its connectivity suite. The handset is available in a single colour option in the prepaid carrier- Dark Gray.
